Zoom Cloud Meetings is one of the most popular platforms for organizing and joining various online video meetings. It offers a user-friendly interface and is easy to adjust. The platform was developed by one of the former engineers of Cisco Webex — Eric Yuan in 2011. However, the initial Zoom's release was two years after its founding, in 2013. In April 2020, during the Covid-19 epidemy, the company gained a lot of new users and joined the NASDAQ-100 stock index.
From the very beginning of its foundation, the company was aimed at forming close partnerships with other companies, which allowed them to immediately integrate and test the newly developed features on other platforms. For example, Zoom was able to integrate its software into InterviewStream, a company that provides remote video interviews for employers. On December 11, 2013, Centrify Corporation announced that it was integrating Microsoft Active Directory, access control and single sign-on (SSO) compatible with Zoom. By March 17, 2014, thanks to a partnership with Voxbone, users get the opportunity to join meetings using a toll-free number for a public switched telephone network. The release of version 3.5 at the end of the year added mobile screen sharing for mobile devices running iOS.
Initially, Zoom allowed organizing video group conferences with up to 15 people. Since then, Zoom made several major improvements allowing around 500 participants to have a call at the same time. Despite the fears of many technical experts, the quality of communication did not deteriorate with the addition of an increasing number of participants. On October 3, 2013, Geek Magazine published a collection of FaceTime alternatives for Android that included the Zoom service, stating that "although Zoom was designed for professional conference calls, it's really easy to use for personal activities."
Ne of the main Zoom missions was the creation of video platforms that any user can quickly adjust and use for personal or business purposes. As such, the interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The navigation system is also simple and utilizes the best practices in video application development.
Zoom has an amazingly simple interface that shares the common design patterns. For example, on the main page, you have two buttons: "Join a meeting" or "Create a meeting." Many users noted that the interface is very intuitive and understandable, so you can easily figure out how to use the app.
Zoom is available on all popular mobile and desktop platforms. Among them are Linux, web extensions, Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android. Personal information is stored on the remote Zoom servers, as such, it is synchronized across the devices very fast.
